Life Cycle UK is a cycling charity in Bristol and Derby, England. I provided graphic design support to them over a period of three years.
"Working with Craig has been fantastic. He really got to the bottom of what we’re trying to communicate and who our audiences are. Craig was always willing to share his thinking with us, so we could understand what makes good design work and take this learning into our organisation for future reference." Becky - Head of Marketing at Life Cycle UK
What started as a one-off project to produce posters for their in-prison bike workshop led to three years of working together on advertising, signage, social media, posters, logos, reports, videos etc.
As a non-profit, Life Cycle had a very limited budget, so I needed to work closely with Becky from Marketing to produce ways of working to get the most value from my expertise, like providing open designs for staff to make ongoing edits. We did this through a mix of working in Canva for the majority of designs, importing in any vector work I did outside of Canva, and running workshops with staff on how best to edit the designs or templates.
Post-workshop support included checking in on Canva to see what edits had been made and making suggestions directly in page on improvements before important communications were released. This gave staff confidence to learn their way around the requirements set by marketing and what an effective poster or social post should look like.
A highlight from my work with Life Cycle was to make micro improvements to the brand identity, including:
* Creating a collection of graphics that better represented the diverse people they work with.
* Increasing footfall to the bike sales and servicing workshop through better signage.
* Assisting marketing with showing management the value what a full rebrand could look like.
